Description
Floating Collage Compositions, Big and Little
Collage is about the paper, glue, and how you apply it to a surface. In this workshop we will explore first the making of our own unique papers. Repurposing found papers to create new marks, designs and adding your own creative voice. Influenced and inspired by our outer and inner surroundings we will actively work with new ideas. The alchemy of mind and materials will flow into a gorgeous paper. We will bring all these new papers together with organic and torn edges revealed on the surface of the wooden panels. The collage floats in the middle allowing the outer edges of the wood panel to be textured by acrylic mediums and glaze, drawing our vision into focus around the entire surface. The study of composition never grows old, working on wood panels will emphasis placement and arrangement to size. The wood panels will allow for insightful opportunities to add ephemeral like nails, tacks, thread and dangly fibrous bits. Each student will have the opportunity to work on smaller wooden blocks whereby learning even more about the experience of collage and assemblage while making a series.
