Are you intrigued about cold wax and how to use it? In this fun and exciting 4-day workshop, students will explore many techniques on working with cold wax. Dive into this versatile medium and its vast array of possibilities you can do with it. Cold wax can be used for abstract, landscape, still life, portraits, sculptures, collage, and so much more! Cold wax is made from white unbleached beeswax, alkyd resin, and odorless mineral spirits (OMS). No heat is used with cold wax. Adding oil paint, pigment powders and other particulates is part of the basics with cold wax. Students will learn how to build layers, use various tools, working with different drying times, using masks and stencils, adding collage elements, learn composition and color and how to create unique one of a kind artwork.
You will learn:
- How to use basic tools, and surfaces to achieve a feel of history and visual interest in your work
- Techniques for wet in wet and dry surfaces
- Layering and texture
- Incorporate collage and other elements such as pigment powders and other particulates
- Solvent reduction to reveal underlying layers
- Mark making with various tools
- Compositional elements
- Working with color

Biography
Patricia Lintner, who grew up in Los Angeles California, has resided in central Minnesota since 1989. Married to her high school sweetheart, she also has two daughters, a son, and 3 grandchildren. Known for her mixed media, combining acrylic, inks, collage, cold wax, fiber and rusty objects into her work, has taught her knowledge in these various mediums for many years. “I love to create every day, and equally so, I love to teach and give others an opportunity to bring out something they may have not realized they had in themselves”.
Patricia’s work has been found in many homes in the United States and Canada, galleries in Minnesota, and has been featured in Lakes Country Journal February-March 2022 edition. “Embracing the Imperfect”, has been a guest ARtist for StencilGirl Products art blog June 25, 2021, demo artist at the Artists of Minnesota annual event 2022, President of the Brainerd Area Art Guild, and a published illustrator. Patricia has done many workshops in MN and WI with oil and cold wax, abstract acrylic, alcohol ink and fiber art.

Day students are welcome to attend the Welcome Reception and Farewell Reception (included in your package). You are also invited to join the class dinners (additional fee). PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation at Dillman’s for $40 per night for accommodations. Costs for box lunches and dinners are additional.
