Description

Prepare to have fun in this workshop discovering your inner creative child with mono printing and collage on the Gel Press Plate!  Using the Gel Plate takes monotype and monoprinting to a different level.  Spontaneity working with hthis amazing tool is just the beginning.  Creating with the Gel Plate yields effects that cannot be done with traditional painting.  The possibilities are endless and addictive!

This 4-day workshop, will contain:

  • How to play with layers through color, opacity and transparencies.
  • How to use various paints and how they differ from each other.
  • Working with water-based mediums to bring out the most in your discovery of your paint choices.
  • Creating textures with unconventional and limitless tools you already have laying around in your home.
  • Creative you own stencils and masks, as well as store bought, which Patricia will provide.
  • Learn collograph and Chine colle on the Gel Plate.
  • You will be making your own collage papers and finished artwork on the Gel Plate.
  • Playing with oil pastels and artist crayons (these will be provided by Patricia) for the resist technique.
  • Learn how to work with various types of papers and substrates and the different effects you can achieve.
  • Building your work with composition and the elements of art.
  • Finding our own creative voice in the art making process.

Biography

Patricia Lintner, who grew up in Los Angeles California, has resided in central Minnesota since 1989. Married to her high school sweetheart, she also has two daughters, a son, and 3 grandchildren. Known for her mixed media, combining acrylic, inks, collage, cold wax, fiber and rusty objects into her work, has taught her knowledge in these various mediums for many years. “I love to create every day, and equally so, I love to teach and give others an opportunity to bring out something they may have not realized they had in themselves”. Patricia’s work has been found in many homes in the United States and Canada, galleries in Minnesota, and has been featured in Lakes Country Journal February-March 2022 edition. “Embracing the Imperfect”, has been a guest ARtist for StencilGirl Products art blog June 25, 2021, demo artist at the Artists of Minnesota annual event 2022, President of the Brainerd Area Art Guild, and a published illustrator. Patricia has done many workshops in MN and WI with oil and cold wax, abstract acrylic, alcohol ink and fiber art.

Meals are on your own. All accommodations have cooking facilities. You may preorder box lunches and dinners for meals to be taken alone or with your group in: your studio, the lodge deck, cafe, or your accommodation. (Pre-ordering for lunches and dinners is required.)

Dine-Around Dinners: Registration required at the front desk, meet at 5:00 p.m. in the main lobby for carpooling.

Day students are welcome to attend the Welcome Reception and Farewell Reception (included in your package). You are also invited to join the class dinners (additional fee). PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation at Dillman’s for $40 per night for accommodations. Costs for box lunches and dinners are additional.
