Vertical Story Telling in Collage

Telling a visual story in a vertical format with a contemporary mind set of today’s adventurous artists will be the focus of this workshop. The vertical collage artwork will be layers of our own creative lineage within instinctual details. The unfolding of this creative process will begin with collage sketching, then on to creating a collage palette of papers. Artistic movement in a repetitive vertical statement on a variety of substrates will build confidence for the process of heat fusion. This method of collaging is applied with an iron. Gathering knowledge of the adhereing of the collage papers to many surfaces like a long vertical wood panel will be our intention. Not all collage and mixed media art has to be square or rectangular, it can be long and vertical. Storytelling with marks, words, images, animal silhouettes, symbols and design elements allow for unique creative story segments to emerge.
