Breathe Life into Your Watercolors: The Power of Loose Painting
Aug 23 - Aug 28
4 Teaching Days
Description
Escape to the peaceful charm of Wisconsin for a 4-day watercolor retreat that will refresh your spirit and energize your art. Join master watercolorist Vladislav Yeliseyev as he shares his signature techniques for painting with freedom, confidence, and expressive brushwork.
This immersive workshop is all about loosening up—learning to simplify, capture atmosphere, and let your watercolors flow naturally. You’ll explore composition, value, and color with daily demonstrations, guided exercises, and one-on-one feedback, all designed to help you breathe life into your paintings.
Set against the tranquil backdrop of Wisconsin’s scenic landscapes, this retreat combines the joy of learning with the warmth of a supportive artistic community. Expect plenty of inspiration, shared laughter, and time to unwind in nature as you take your watercolor skills to the next level.
Key instruction areas include wet-on-wet application, dry brush techniques, layering, unifying washes, and expressive color mixing based on Vlad’s color theory. A dedicated session on value sketching will cover composition and the importance of value-color relationships before painting begins.
Students will also explore creative enhancements using imaginary elements to strengthen the composition and impact of their work. Emphasis will be placed on confident, painterly brushstrokes and effective light-color interplay.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained deeper technical skill, a clearer understanding of color theory, and increased fluency in a bold, loose watercolor style.
