John Salminen
Watercolor: Realism Through Design

May 17 - May 22

4 Teaching Days

Description

In this workshop, John will share his approach to painting the urban scene in watercolor. You will arrive at the workshop with a detailed drawing of a town or city scene on a full sheet of Arches watercolor paper. With that drawing as a starting point, John will help with all aspects of painting a representational urban landscape – adding mood and creating emotional content, lighting the scene for dramatic effect, using photo reference in a meaningful way and, most importantly, strengthening and enhancing representational painting through design. The workshop will include demos, critiques and lots of one-on-one individual help. Whether you’ve never tried painting cityscapes or you are an experienced urban painter, this workshop will be an invaluable opportunity to gain new painting insights.
