David R. Becker
The Most Important Watercolor & Gouache Workshop

Jun 9 - Jun 14

4 Teaching Days

Description

David’s watercolor and gouache class cover using transparent watercolor and opaque watercolor gouache together. Students will be learning about traditional watercolors and how to use them together with acrylic and watercolor gouache techniques. There will be times we use the gouache in a transparent watercolor way and at times we will be using it like you would use oils and acrylics.  Painting surfaces will include paper, Yupo paper, and black watercolor paper. You will learn how to use these two mediums together to create a different type of style and technique. It is like TWO CLASSES IN ONE!

Each day we do an exercise in the morning and start another in the afternoon to go over many different aspects of each medium we use. Each class and exercise builds on the previous assignment which helps you learn all that David wants you to take away from this class.

Students don’t have to bring any supplies, since David will be providing all the supplies for this workshop.

Biography

David R. Becker

Since 1979, David has spent all of his artistic life and career in the city of Chicago. Becker studied at American Academy of Art in Chicago, and is the reason that a large majority of his subject matter comes from his life here in the city that he loves so much. After studying at The American Academy of Art in Chicago, Becker went into illustrating for a major advertising agency J. Walter Thompson and later for Foote Cone and Belding. He also started teaching around the country, right out of school, but always found time for his favorite ambition, creating fine art paintings. David is the author of Watercolor Composition Made Easy, and How to Sketch with Watercolor. He has had two different articles published in International Artist Magazine and in Watercolor Magic. Has reached signature status to the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and has won numerous awards for his work from watercolor societies around the country.
