Are you unsure of your artistic ability? Do you find yourself saying, “I can’t draw a stick man” or “I don’t have an artistic bone in my body”? Perhaps you have painted in the past, but you are stuck and cannot figure out why your paintings lack visual appeal. If so, this workshop was created for you. I believe every person can learn to draw and paint. With over 35 years’ teaching experience, I have designed a unique and effective curriculum that promotes learning and success for every participant. This workshop includes drawing and watercolor foundations and advanced skills in composition and design. This year’s workshop will focus on birds and wildlife as subject matter.
Barbara Benda Nagle is a visual artist specializing in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media collage. A native of Wahpeton, ND, she spent over 30 years teaching children in BIA and public schools. She is now a full-time artist and workshop instructor.
Barbara holds Art Education and Elementary Education degrees from Moorhead State University- Moorhead, Moorhead, Minnesota, and has furthered her own skills with advanced art workshops for over 27 years. She is a signature member of the Red River Watercolor Society, a member of the Fargo-Moorhead Visual Artists (FMVA), Northstar Watermedia Society, and River Forks Watercolor Society. A lifelong learner, Barbara likes to explore new subjects and experiment with new creative art techniques. She enjoys sharing her discoveries with others and helping them move forward on a personal path of creativity.
Barbara works out of her Mourning Dove Studio in Moorhead, MN, and is also co-owner and member of Gallery 4 Artist Cooperative in downtown Fargo. She is an active drawing and painting instructor for all levels of learners. She specializes in providing drawing lessons within the context of painting workshops to assure success for all painters. She has designed her own curriculum which includes lessons on the color wheel, value, and learning how to see the world differently through an artist’s eyes. Her method of teaching and her self-designed curriculum have been derived from years of experience in working with clientele of all backgrounds, skill levels, and various learning styles.
