This exiting class will teach you how to paint landscapes with compelling skies. Tom will reveal his secrets for painting atmospherics that add a luminous glow to your work and give your landscapes a unified look. He teaches how to paint a variety of atmospheric effects ranging from bold and brilliant to serene and mysterious including: towering thunderheads at last light, shafts of sun breaking through back-lit clouds, wispy stratus clouds receding to the horizon, falling rain and mist and fog. Learn how to energize your paintings with flowing washes, luminous glazes and the use of watercolor impasto. Tom will discuss color choices, subject simplification and design strategies. He will provide commentary on how to paint believable skies and his demo's will show you how to let watercolor's fluid nature work for you.
Teaching methods will include: daily demonstration, individual instruction, positive critique and handouts. Classroom management will be positive and supportive and will allow students daily time for painting while Tom continues to give helpful advice. This workshop is designed to benefit all levels of painters.
