Jeanne Mackenzie     Sept 23–28, 2012 (Four Teaching Days)
Studio "Plein Air"

Jeanne Mackenzie ArtworkThis studio class will help you to really loosen up and become more spontaneous with your brushwork. Jeanne will help you put more light and life into your paintings. Often, we paint outdoor 'plein air' with a sense of bravado and then tighten up when we come back inside to work from a photo. We lose that spontaneity and freshness that an on-site painting offers. We will use photo references but learn how to treat them as if painting the scene on location. We will be 'traveling' (via photo) to document a wonderful scene, to capture the 'essence' of the location and to take back a memory of the moment- just like plein air. The instruction and demos will be for oils but those well versed in other mediums are welcome.

The emphasis will be on choosing good composition with clout, an inviting design, correct values and colors that sing. This is a fun class with lots of energy and one on one personal attention. It is good for newer painters wanting the basics and also for the advanced student wanting to take their painting to the next level.
