Daryl Urig is an adjunct Professor with the University of Cincinnati for over 10 years and created a 4-year program for the University of Cincinnati as its Academic Coordinator. He has painted all through his career while his work has hung in the Columbus Art Museum and the Toledo Art Museum. He has won major awards all across the United states including the Salmagundi Club in New York City. He is represented by many galleries in the United States including the prestigious Hilligoss Galleries of Chicago Illinois, on the Magnificent Mile. He has won awards with the Portrait Society of America and is the premier painter for the Indian Hill Historic Society in Indian Hill, Ohio. Workshop ItinerarySunday 9/30 *6 nights’ accommodations are included in this workshop Day students are welcome to attend the Welcome Reception and Farewell Reception (included in your package). You are also invited to join the class dinners (additional fee). PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation at Dillman’s for $50 per night for accommodations. Costs for box lunches and dinners are additional.

When you arrive at your plein air painting location, is it sometimes overwhelming with so many choices to make? Daryl will provide a unique presentation of rich instruction on the benefits of having an actionable plan and proven step-by-step procedure for capturing great plein air paintings. From creating dynamic compositions, mixing rich colors, and capturing fleeting light with lively paint. Painting knives can teach us so much about painting, color, mixing of colors, our approach to painting and creating space with color and texture. This class will help you add physical dimension and 3-D texture while focusing on the big picture verses niggling needless details. Using painting knives also helps you mix and lay more accurate vivid colors and dramatizes soft and crisp hard edges. All mediums welcome, demos will be in oil paint.
