This painters' retreat pushes you out of your safe zone and into a brand new looser, abstract direction. Day One: Painting with your materials, using techniques that lay the foundation for the rest of the week. Day Two & Three: Focus on loose painting and drawing the undraped model. Each day starts with wet paint sketches plus Bob's popular warm-up exercises. You will be producing a fresh new body of work with your own artistic voice and point of view. Day Four & Five: Creative tearing and paint splashing, starting each day with small paper collaging – making new work and utilizing the figurative paint sketches. Enjoy afternoons of lively marketing conversations with Kate Burridge. Model fees included.
Robert Burridge is a full time contemporary painter and teaches combined media, collage and painting throughout France, Italy, Mexico, Central America, as well as the USA. As the Honorary President of the International Society of Acrylic Painters, a Signature Member of both the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the ISAP, his honors include the prestigious “Crest Medal for Achievement in the Arts” and the Franklin Mint award. His paintings are featured in many art books and magazines, on Starbucks Coffee mugs, Pearl Vodka bottles, on eight commercial tapestries. His popular work hangs in permanent collections of international embassies, corporate galleries, art colleges as well as television and the entertainment industry. In 2010, his life’s dream was realized. The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art curated fourteen of his abstract paintings for his first solo museum exhibition. And again in 2012, SLOMA will exhibit his latest series of seven foot charcoal drawings.
He is a popular lecturer and has written over one hundred articles in a wide variety of publications on creativity, inspiration, professionalism in the art world and related painting subjects. Another high point, Burridge was commissioned to recreate twelve of his large abstract canvases for the Hollywood movie “Dean Quixote,” produced by “Swingers” producer Victor Simpkins.
He has published two books: “Robert Burridge’s Loosen Up and Studio Notes” and “Hot Art Marketing: The Business of Selling your Art.” His newest DVD is “Abstract Florals from Loose Colorful Splatters.” Burridge’s studio is located on eight acres overlooking California’s central coast in San Luis Obispo County.
