Color & Composition–Important Design Elements

Joy Skinner Artwork Color and Composition will be the focus of this workshop where you will learn the techniques used to create vibrant and powerful watercolors. Topics will include using color, contrast and luminosity to strengthen your designs, the design process, photography in your painting, creating textures and underpainting. New techniques each day will be used in painting landscape elements such as trees, rocks, water, flowers, people and buildings. This fun filled workshop will help you to be better informed, more inspired, and feeling more confident about your painting. This is a great class for beginners, as well as, offers challenge for more advanced painters who want to learn new techniques. Instructor demos, along with individual and group instruction and critiques, will be used to teach the painting and design process.

Joy’s vibrant paintings reflect her love of nature and in particular her love of the southwest. Her work has received numerous awards. She is the author of The Journey Within and several feature articles have been written about her. Her work is included in many private, corporate, and public collections. Joy’s professional affiliations include being a member of the National Watercolor Society, Northern Arizona Watercolor Society, Sedona Artist Coalition, and the Arizona Art Alliance. Joy’s work can be found in galleries in Sedona, Scottsdale, Santa Fe, Brandon and Saskatoon Canada.

Friday night’s accommodations are part of the room package for this workshop

Depart - check-out time is 10:00

Day students are welcome to attend the Welcome Reception and Farewell Reception (included in your package). You are also invited to join the class dinners (additional fee). PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation at Dillman’s for $50 per night for accommodations. Costs for box lunches and dinners are additional.
