George Shipperley     June 19-25, 2011 (Five Teaching Days)
The Art of Oil Pastel

George Shipperley Artwork The focus of this class will be on composition, design, advantages of a limited palette, and originality. Each student will learn to develop their own individual style and technique. Students will be encouraged to work from still life set-ups or your own photographs. Photos will be used as a reference ONLY but not for rendering or copying. From your photographs you will learn how to edit down to the essence of what is really necessary. Individual instruction will be ongoing with group discussions at the end of each day and constructive feedback from all class members. Brief demos will be given at your request, but most of your time will be spent learning the many ways to use and apply oil pastel. It is important to keep in mind how we paint, not what we paint, will distinguish us from others. Oil pastel is a very exciting medium and that’s exactly what this class will be, EXCITING.

Studio: Something for all levels.

George offers a partial tuition scholarship.
