Bonnie Paruch     Sept 18-23, 2011 (Four Teaching Days)
People & Places: Adding Life to Landscape in Oil and Pastel

Bonnie Paruch Artwork Learn how to “see” and paint the landscape as you want it to appear. You will explore how light affects color and value and practice using a three value system that takes the mystery out of landscape painting. The first two days you will develop your on-site landscape painting skills. You will create several small plein air studies that emphasize dynamic shapes, powerful design and the relationship between color, brush work and personal expression. The final two days Bonnie will share her method of successfully introducing figures into an environment. The addition of a figure is a powerful devise to capture the viewer. Learn to integrate the figure and the surroundings in a way that enhances the narrative qualities of your paintings. Working from life, students will learn to use thumbnail sketches and gestural paintings of the model.
