Robert Burridge     October 2-8, 2011 (Five Teaching Days)
Contemporary Artist Retreat - Acrylic Collage (Class #2)

Bob Burridge Artwork This Painters' Retreat pushes you out of your safe zone and into a brand new looser, abstract direction. Painters use the first two days to reacquaint themselves with loose painting and drawing the undraped model. Starting each day with wet paint sketches plus Burridge's popular warmup exercises - fingerpainting - you will be producing a fresh new body of work with your own artistic voice and point of view. Days three and four cover creative tearing and paint splashing, starting each day with small paper collaging - making new work and also utilizing the figurative paint sketches. Plenty of lecture and demo notes, constructive critiques and personal painting time. Come prepared to paint your own stuff!
Includes:

  • Contemporary Abstract Figure Painting (Mon-Tues)
  • Post Modern Painting & Collage (Wed-Thurs)
  • Art Marketing for the Busy Artist! (Fri)

Robert Burridge leads an exciting and lively career with an impressive resume of credits to his name: He is the first artist featured on Starbuck’s Commuter Mugs; the Official Artist for the 2001 Sausalito Art Festival-- his image, “Party of the Arts” was selected as the top festival poster of the year by Sunshine Artist Magazine. As the Official Pearl Vodka Artist, his “Three Cheers America” is featured on the hang tags of every bottle. Burridge has just completed his 4th label for Pearl. Named by the LA Times as one of California’s “Top Ten Emerging Artists”, Robert is a winner of the prestigious Philadelphia Water Color Society Crest Medal, previously won by Georgia O’Keeffe, Andrew Wyeth and Pablo Picasso. Locally his work appears on two billboards on US Highway 101, touting the local wine country. Hollywood has become another avenue for Bob; he has created 12 huge abstract paintings for a film “Dean Quixote,” and he is working on illustrating a book written by one of the directors of the TV show “Just Shoot Me.”

Burridge was honored as the 1st Place Award winner for his Abstract paintings at the prestigious “Affair in the Gardens,” in Beverly Hills, California. Burridge exhibits his work in San Francisco, Sedona, Raleigh, Mendocino, Maui, Australia and on Cruise Ships.

About his style of painting, Bob says “Art should be an uplifting experience and celebration of all that’s wonderful about life and its quirkiness!”
