Add new dimension to your watercolors using techniques Laurie has included in her new book, Watercolor Depth and Realism. Beginners and advanced painters alike will come away with a new understanding of how to achieve a sense of visual depth through a series of exercises she has carefully designed to teach specific concepts. Lessons learned can be applied to any painting style, skill level, or subject matter. Laurie’s stress-free teaching style provides a fun and relaxed atmosphere with lots of individual attention.
Laurie will demonstrate her method of reserving whites and softening edges, as well as a better approach to the drawing stage. The workshop will also include a concentration on the secret of the unifying wash. Watercolor is often called an unforgiving medium, but the unifying wash allows you to manipulate the depth of already painted elements. You will discover exactly what a unifying wash is and how to best use it to your advantage. Once you develop a true understanding of how to utilize this technique you will realize how much control you actually do have over the final outcome of your work.
Bring any watercolor painting you have done and feel is too “flat” on the final day, when you will have the opportunity to rework it using your newly acquired skills. You will be amazed at the new levels of dimension you create!
