Catching the Light in Watercolor

This class will explore the mysteries and many facets of the watercolor medium, to create a wealth of magical moments, which will include spontaneity, atmosphere and catching the changing light. Color, drawing skills, composition will be addressed in a harmonious friendly atmosphere, with a powerful and positive approach. Individuality and sensitivity will be encouraged. Demos and questions will play a part in the learning process. We will work on location and students will be encouraged and inspired to go further in improving their knowledge and journey in this beautiful flowing medium. Landscape, seascape, cityscape and boats will be covered.
David Taylor was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1941. He served a six-year apprenticeship with a photo engraving firm as a color etcher and engraver, studying at the North Melbourne Printing School of Graphic Arts. David applied what he learned about color and composition to his own watercolor work. He has received international recognition for his services to painting and teaching.
It was in the early 1970s that David joined the prestigious Victorian Artists Society and served on the council for 8 Years. In 1989, he was elected a Fellow of the Victorian Artists Society For Outstanding Services to the Arts. David has won a number of major awards and served the society as a tutor for Many years. He was the Victorian Artists Society Artist Of The Year in 1976, 1980 and 1989. In the early 1980s, David received the Australian watercolorists’ ultimate accolade when he was elected to the elite Australian Watercolour Institute. David was also nominated as a member of the prestigious Twenty Melbourne Painters Society.
David’s 40-year painting career has earned him over 100 awards in watercolor painting, including the Camberwell Rotary Travel Grant Scholarship. David won the coveted Gold Medal and $20,000 for Best of Show in the 2002 Herald Sun Camberwell Rotary Art Show, Australia’s biggest realist art exhibition. He also recently won the 2007 Silver Medal at the Herald Sun Camberwell Rotary Art Show. Among David’s notable achievements are the Distinguished Leadership Award for Outstanding Services to Watercolor and Teaching (International Directory of Distinguished Leadership), and a certificate of Merit for Distinguished Service to the Community. In 2005, he received the honour of becoming the first Australian Principal Artist in Residence at the University Of Southern Queensland Summer School.
David’s work has been featured countless times in Australian Artist and International Artists Magazine. He is respected world wide for his painting and instruction on the art of watercolor. David is also in high demand as a respected art show juror and demonstrator. David’s paintings are in collections in Italy, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, China, Japan, USA, UK, Sweden, Australia, the Guernsey Museum, Newcastle and Ube On Tyne Collections, Consul of Switzerland, Melbourne Town Hall , Castlemaine Regional Gallery and City of Camberwell Collection Australia.
Studio: Something for all levels.
David offers a partial tuition scholarship.
Workshop Fee: $450 + tax.

your package). You are also invited to join the class for breakfasts

PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation at Dillman’s
for $300, includes accommodations. Costs for breakfasts, dinners and receptions
are additional.
Box lunches are available at Dillman’s for an additional fee.
