in Wood Carving and Painting a Killdeer Bird

During this session each student will carve and paint
a Killdeer bird. Bobs instruction will include discussions
in composition and anatomy, pattern making all aspects of carving using power
tools, texturing
and painting using acrylics. Additionally you will be carving a piece of barn
wood to mount the plover on. Bob is especially well known for his
soft textured surfaces. The challenge of this class will be mastering the skillful
methods,
which produce the softness.
Bob resides in northern Illinois and is known nationally
for his ability and accomplishments in bird carving. Bob began carving 25
years
ago and since has received many awards including four-time Best in World Title
at the Ward Foundation Carving Competition, Ocean City, Maryland, along with
numerous Best of Show awards nationwide. His work has been included in the
prestigious Leigh
Yawkey Woodson Museum Exposition Birds in Art Exhibition yearly from 1982
to 1996 as well
as American Bird Sculpture-Decoys to Decorative 1987, National Museum of Natural
History, Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C. His work is included in the
permanent collection of the Wildfowl Art Museum, Salisbury, MD, the Leigh Yawkey
Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, Wisconsin, and private and corporate collections
across the country. Bob is a veteran teacher and has co-authored, How to
Carve Miniature Wildfowl with Roger Schroeder, Stackpole Books, 1988.

PAL’s (Participants at large) can vacation
at Dillman’s for $300, includes accommodations. Costs for breakfasts,
dinners and receptions are additional.
Box lunches are available at Dillman’s for an additional fee.
