Wings in Wood – Carving and Painting a Killdeer Bird

During this session each student will carve and paint a Killdeer bird. Bob’s instruction will include discussions in composition and anatomy, pattern making all aspects of carving using power tools, texturing and painting using acrylics. Additionally you will be carving a piece of barn wood to mount the plover on. Bob is especially well known for his soft textured surfaces. The challenge of this class will be mastering the skillful methods, which produce the softness.

Bob began carving 25 years ago and since has received many awards including four-time Best in World Title at the Ward Foundation Carving Competition, Ocean City, Maryland, along with numerous Best of Show awards nationwide.
