Family Art Week     June 22 – 26, 2008 (Four Teaching Mornings)
Reconnect with your Family through Art making

Take a group of families, add practicing artists working in a range of media, and place it all in the midst of Wisconsin’s beautiful Northwoods and you have the ideal setting to foster family togetherness. Family Art Week at Dillman’s Bay Resort in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin is that setting.

Family Art Week combines professional-quality art instruction for all ages with the relaxed setting and activities of a traditional summer camp. A typical workshop day begins at 9am and continues until 1pm. After the class vacationers are free to swim, hike, bike, canoe, enjoy a complimentary pontoon ride, and visit local Native American sites. The classes are offered for 4 mornings. Meals are not provided. There is a Sunday 5pm Welcome Reception and a Friday 12:30pm Gala Send Off. In the evening artists are free to use the studios to work on projects, without instruction, which may be shown and viewed at the Gala held on Friday.

Family Art Week 2008 includes a choice of one of two workshops for four half day classes and two receptions. Some supplies are provided. Some classes have limited enrollment; classes will be filled
as reservations are received. For accommodations please contact Dillman’s Bay Resort by phone at 715-588-3143 or email vacations@dillmans.com immediately. Space is filling up fast!

CLASS 1
CHILDREN’S NORTHWOODS MULTIMEDIA ART STUDIO

Barb Barlow leads the art team at the James William Jr. High School in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. She has taught art for many years to 6th, 7th and 8th graders as well as younger children through summer school programs. She also leads a very popular after school art club to enthusiastic students. Her class at Dillman’s has met with raves from students and parents alike.

The Northwoods Art Studio class will feature multiple projects using the Northwoods as inspiration. One long term project, the clay totem pole, as well as smaller one-day projects such as drawing and watercolor painting, will be pursued. Barb has experience with all ages and will gear instruction according to the age and capability of the student.

Students should be thinking about what animals or symbols will represent them or their families and start collecting pictures of these animals to work with. Barbara will have all the materials needed for this class.
