Catherine M. Elliott    August 31 – September 5, 2008 (Four Teaching Days)
Make An Impression — Oil

This workshop will focus on the joys of painting in an impressionistic style of painting. We will paint both plein air and in the studio. I will guide, through quick instructional demonstrations and by working individually with each student. I will stress the importance of first being “inspired” to paint a subject and then carrying it through to completion and how to avoid an over worked painting. I will show you how effective a limited palette can be, methods of paint handling and brushwork skills. Working on methods of using grounds, explore color concepts and using different mediums enables both beginners and experienced painters the confidence to step out to new levels in their work. In this class you can discover, by simple steps, just how enjoyable the process of creating an impression on canvas can be.

Catherine is an award winning contemporary impressionistic artist, illustrator and teacher and currently lives in New England. She as been painting for 20 years, is in numerous galleries, and has been published in Opulence Magazine, Art World News and twice in American Artist.
