Jan Fabian Wallake RRWS, NPWS, TWSA     August 26 – 31, 2007 (Four teaching days)
Watercolor: Pour On Glowing Glazes

Loosen up your watercolor paintings! This class will show you how to enjoy the freedom of loose, flowing glazes of color and how they will add a fresh glow to your paintings. You will also learn how to create successful designs for your paintings, how to apply luminous color washes, how to avoid dull colors, how to “rescue” a painting, and how to create dramatic, award-winning paintings. Jan applies glazes in a unique process that results in glowing colors with incredible transparency. You can apply this technique to your own artistic style or start on a new creative path. The class is based on Jan’s book, Watercolor: Pour It On. Daily demonstrations, group and individual work, and a lot of one-on-one attention are the basis for this exciting workshop.

Jan is a professional watercolor artist (signature member of RRWS, NPWS, TWSA) who lives in Stillwater, MN. Her dramatic style of contemporary expressionism is based on geometric shapes balanced with organic forms and incorporates glowing color glazes. She has a six-part TV series on painting, is listed in Who’s Who in American Art, has authored several articles in American Artist and The Artist’s magazines, produced two instructional videos on her “poured” glazing technique, and has authored a book for North Light Books about her painting processes titled, Watercolor: Pour It On! Jan’s paintings can also be seen in the new Splash 8 book by North Light Books, The North Light Big Book of Painting Watercolor Flowers, and The Watercolorist’s Answer Book. Jan won the prestigious National Watercolor Society Award in 2006.
