Creating Mood
and Visual Language in Painting Watercolor
www.neville-arts.com
New to Dillman’s
Bruce’s workshop will be filled with information and creative style
that he feels reflects the current traditions of American watercolorists. His
work reflects a direct approach and shows creative energy with his loose style,
fresh colorful washes and strong free form drawing technique that gives the
structural elements to his work. You will learn many short cut approaches to
drawing the subjects each day and he will start class with a demo to show you
how it is done. He emphasizes design and a comprehensive review of color mixing
and always capturing light techniques in his value studies. The instruction
time will depend on the specific needs and level of experience of the participants.
The artists will have hands-on individual instruction and ample time to paint
in class. If needed, Bruce will give assistance and individual critiques after
class time. Enjoy Bruce’s creative approach to be able to
create the “mood and visual language in watercolor.” The class
is open to artists of all levels.
Bruce must first have the fundamental visual skill of a drawing. This is combining imagination with rational thought, my private thought process that enables me to process my paintings. This is just a beginning to explore and develop my thinking process and to be able to convey that sensibility. My goal is to develop not a way of painting, but a way to think, interpret and create. Each of my paintings I hope conveys this unique experience leading the viewer into a new way of seeing and hopefully understanding my process.
I emphasize good drawing skills and will illustrate this each day of the workshop. It is essential to have a well-designed subject before beginning a painting and the only way to do this is combining imagination and ability to draw.
