Pat Weaver    June 4 – 10, 2006 (Five Teaching Days)
Watercolor Simplified

Pat’s love of watercolor, the energy she brings to her painting and teaching is what makes her workshops so unique and special. Her approach to watercolor is very spontaneous and direct, utilizing her 30 years of painting and teaching experience. She is very versatile as her workshops allow the student to paint any subject matter including portrait and figure, animals, landscapes, architectural and florals/ stilllifes. She shares everything she knows with her students, making sure that each student receives individual attention, along with very important daily critiques for the entire class. The workshop includes the fundamental principles, stresses good drawing, direct painting without drawing, value painting, limited palettes (no more than 5 color in any one painting), the use of watercolor pencils and teaching the student how to see simply.

A critique of work done prior to the workshop is given on the first morning of class. We will work from photographs as well as painting on location (weather permitting). A demonstration is given each morning of various subject matter showing different approaches to painting. Demos are limited to no more than two hours each morning, so that students get the most benefit out of painting time.

Pat’s book, Watercolor Simplified, published by North Light in 2004 has been so well received that she has been asked to do another book on Portrait and Figure. A video titled, Watercolor Simplified, is also available through North Light. She is also in the following publications: The Watercolorist’s Answer Book, a new book on Florals out in December 2005, Sketchbook 2006, Painter’s Quick Reference: Cats and Dogs, 2007, Splash 7 and Splash 9 (2007).

Other publications include The Artists Magazine, American Artist and Watercolor Magic. She is represented in Daniel Smith’s Catalogs with her own set of Daniel Smith Watercolors. Pat is a Signature Life Member and Past President of the Florida Watercolor Society.
