Watercolor – Achieving Depth through Transparent Layers

New to Dillman’s
Join Laurie as she teaches secrets to creating greater depth in your paintings though a series of carefully designed exercises. You will learn how increasing depth can strengthen your composition and focal point. Both beginners and advanced painters will learn techniques, which can be applied to any painting style, and any subject matter. You will be asked to bring any watercolor painting you feel is too “flat” to the final day of the workshop, where you will have the opportunity to rework it using your newly acquired skills. Laurie’s stress-free teaching style provides a fun and relaxed atmosphere with lots of individual attention.
New to Dillman’s, Laurie comes to us from Houston, where she teaches several popular classes. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Texas State University. Her watercolors have appeared in more than Fifty National and International Exhibitions. Included are such prestigious shows as, the American Watercolor Society, The American Artists Professional League, Watercolor USA, and The Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. Her work has garnered numerous awards. An article on her work entitled Three Key Elements of a Successful Painting: Focal Point, Composition, and Depth, was recently featured in the March 2005 issue of American Artist Magazine.
