Whether you use photography for your own pleasure,
commercially, or as a reference for working in some other medium and
wish
you could make better images, maybe this workshop can help. Using 35-mm.
format and color transparency (slide) film, we will practice shooting
a broad spectrum of subjects. We will be working outside in spectacular
northern Wisconsin. Overnight processing of the day’s shooting
will allow us to critique our efforts so that we may solve problems,
try different techniques,
and
experiment with many subjects and lighting situations. The workshop is
loosely structured with little lecturing and lots of personal attention
to accommodate a wide range of student abilities and equipment, and to
make the best use of the available time for camera-in-hand practice.
If the instructors, students and weather all agree,
we will try to partner with a concurrent painting workshop in an exercise
which I call seeing through the brush and the lens.
He started photographing with a rather primitive underwater camera about
40 years ago. After getting a great deal on a good 35 mm (land) camera
he combined underwater and surface images for travel related slide shows.
About 10 years ago, he teamed up with a graphic artist and began doing
brochures and catalogues for some local companies. From his studio in
the old mill complex in Grafton, WI he produces images of fine art
objects (paintings, sculptures, jewelry, etc.) for artist records,
promotions, insurance and juried shows. He loves teaching!!! The only
thing more fun and satisfying than creating a good image is helping
other people do the same.
Studio and on location: Something for all levels.
